罗伯特爱德华兹1951年毕业于班戈大学动物学系， 之后硕士毕业于爱丁堡大学。毕业后，爱德华兹教授在英国剑桥大学教书和医学研究工作。

Bangor University graduate Professor Robert Edwards FRS has been awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Medicine.

Professor Edwards FRS developed in-vitro fertilisation, which has brought parenthood to so many otherwise childless couples.

His work was carried out with Patrick Steptoe, who died in 1988.

Robert Edwards gained his first degree in zoology at Bangor University in 1951. He became inspired with an enthusiasm for mammals by leading Bangor University Professor Rogers Brambell. He later spent a successful career at Cambridge.

Professor Edwards is also an Honorary Fellow of Bangor University and we’re delighted that he has achieved such high recognition for his outstanding contribution to science in a way that has touched the lives of so many,” commented Professor John Hughes, Bangor University Vice Chancellor.
